Reconstructing Indomitable's likely December 1941 air group

The reconstruction starts with Indomitable's January-April 1942 squadrons: 800 Squadron with twelve Fulmars, 880 with nine Sea Hurricanes, and 827 and 831 with twelve Albacores each. That group is a closer basis for December 1941 than her later August complement. A tentative addition is 807 Squadron's four to eight Fulmars at Gibraltar, using the larger figure to propose twenty Fulmars, nine Sea Hurricanes, and twenty-four Albacores, fifty-three aircraft in total. The extra Fulmars are a scenario assumption, and the seriousness of the historical discussion about embarking them is uncertain. The non-folding Sea Hurricanes consume disproportionate hangar space, so deck parking leaves room below for maintenance. Fulmars supply reconnaissance and fighter cover, while radar-capable Albacores form the strike force. The Albacore was a distinct airframe design, rather than an updated Swordfish.
