Why preserving Implacable would have mattered

The loss of HMS Implacable in 1949 removed a rare physical example of the prolific Téméraire-class ship of the line.

Notes

Duguay-Trouin, later HMS Implacable, survived until 1949. Her Téméraire class was the most numerous class of Age of Sail ships of the line. Preserving her would have provided a physical example of construction techniques used for that large production run. Her survival so long after Trafalgar makes the eventual loss particularly frustrating from a preservation perspective.
