Hypersonic threats, targeting, and carrier survivability

Fast missiles are serious threats, but carrier survival also depends on targeting information, defensive layers, size, compartmentation, and damage-control capacity.

Notes

Hypersonic weapons extend earlier anti-ship ballistic missile and anti-satellite challenges. At high speed, an attack still needs accurate targeting and can fail through poor information, electronic warfare, plasma effects, or guidance errors. Engagement geometry matters because a crossing target can pose a harder defensive problem than a missile diving directly toward the ship. Carriers remain vulnerable, although a larger ship can carry more compartmentation, firefighting equipment, and damage-control capacity.
