Dunkerque, Strasbourg and completed Richelieu-class ships could strengthen the Home Fleet enough to release Hood for a refit. Her need for that work would give the Royal Navy a reason to use the additional cover. Renown could provide a modernized British battlecruiser to operate with the fast ships while Hood was unavailable. King George V-class battleships would also contribute as they became available.
