Did Hood's Queen Elizabeth-like armour scheme make her as strongly protected as a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship?
Short answerNo. The maximum thickness could be similar, but it did not cover the same share of the hull.
NotesHood's protection was a battlecruiser variant of the Queen Elizabeth armour scheme. At the thickest point, the armour could be equivalent to that of the battleship. A smaller share of Hood's hull received that level of protection. Maximum belt thickness alone can therefore make a battlecruiser appear more battleship-like than its complete protection layout was.
