Would Britain still return Hong Kong to China in the alternate-history scenario?

Britain would probably follow the treaty, while hoping for and trying to support a Nationalist Chinese victory.

Britain would probably still follow the treaty governing Hong Kong's return in this alternate history. A preference for Nationalist China would influence which Chinese side it supported. That preference would not by itself remove the treaty obligation.
