Kenya's Korean bombardments and postwar anti-aircraft refit

Kenya's Far East deployment brought Korean gunfire missions, including support for troops who failed to arrive.

Notes

Kenya returned to active service in 1949 to replace London on the Far East Station. During the Korean War she bombarded Choda in preparation for a landing by 200 South Korean troops, but the troops never arrived. She also supported operations around Inchon. A later year-long Chatham refit brought new radar and standardized her light anti-aircraft battery on five twin Bofors mountings and eight single 40 mm guns. Further bombardment duties and another refit preceded plans to replace Superb on the West Indies Station.
