Hood's interwar refits tried to give the battlecruiser its own fighter capability. Catapult equipment on B and X turrets supported a pair of Fairey Flycatcher single-seat fighters, and a later refit added another catapult and crane. In practice, aircraft could be launched only in very calm weather. The Royal Navy removed the equipment in 1932.
