Modernisation before renewed surface action

A year-long refit updated Enterprise before she returned to operations against German destroyers and torpedo boats and then supported bombardment forces.

Notes

Enterprise returned to the Clyde on Christmas Day 1942 for a year-long modernisation. She retained her distinctive six-inch battery while receiving altered secondary and air-defence equipment. After the refit, she operated with Glasgow, the New Zealand cruiser Gambia, Penelope, and destroyers against a force of eleven German destroyers and torpedo boats. The rebuilt cruiser could still contribute to a fast surface force before moving into the shore-bombardment role that followed.
