Enterprise as a double-turret test bed

Enterprise tested a forward twin six-inch turret that helped develop arrangements later used in Leander and Arethusa-class cruisers.

Notes

Where Emerald used separate forward single mounts, Enterprise carried a twin turret whose design was watched closely. The mounting tested an arrangement later adopted in the Leander and Arethusa classes. Installing it also required changes to Enterprise's machinery and bridge-area layout, including a County-class-style conning tower. Her mount, internal arrangement, and later modifications gave Enterprise a design history distinct from Emerald's.
