A postwar reserve spell ended with a 1951 refit and recommissioning as HMCS Quebec. The renaming is interpreted as an attempt to distance the cruiser from the controversy over Uganda's Pacific withdrawal. Quebec subsequently participated in NATO exercises and led Canadian ships to the 1953 Spithead coronation review as Rear Admiral Bidwell's flagship. A seven-week training cruise followed in the Caribbean and South America in 1954. Paid off in June 1956 and eventually sold, she was broken up in Japan alongside Ontario.
