Nepal's Indian Ocean escorts and carrier strikes

Nepal combined convoy and anti-submarine work with screening the Eastern Fleet's Cockpit and Transom carrier strikes.

Notes

Assigned to the Eastern Fleet, Nepal sailed from Scotland to Kenya and took part in operations around Madagascar. Convoy escort and anti-submarine patrols occupied her before she first reached Australia in March 1943. After a two-month refit, she returned to Indian Ocean operations. She screened carrier forces during Operations Cockpit and Transom, which attacked Japanese bases and facilities in Southeast Asia. The strikes aimed to destroy these installations or interrupt their use, with destroyers protecting the attacking fleet.
