Geranium carried 77 personnel in Royal Navy service and 113 after transfer to the Royal Australian Navy. The use of transferred ships to expand the Australian service partly accounts for the larger complement. Her gun fit included two quick-firing 4-inch Mark IV guns in single mounts. These were later replaced by 4.7-inch Mark IV guns, and she also had two 3-pounders.
