Harwood converts Langsdorff's delays into an interception estimate

Harwood's calm estimate allowed for Langsdorff's habit of taking longer routes and helped place the British force for the River Plate encounter.

Notes

Commodore Henry Harwood comes across as the calmest officer assessing Graf Spee's movements. Rather than using only the travel time a Royal Navy captain might have chosen, he appears to have allowed for Langsdorff's habit of taking indirect routes. That adjustment pushed Graf Spee's expected arrival later and helped Harwood decide where to position his force. The reasoning turned an adversary's cautious operating pattern into an intelligence clue immediately before the Battle of the River Plate.
