Why larger carriers gain hangar efficiency

As a carrier grows, fixed systems consume a smaller proportion of its hangar footprint and leave more room for aircraft.

Notes

Usable hangar footprint matters more than displacement alone. Islands, funnel trunks, lifts, offices, and access routes occupy space on every carrier regardless of air-group size. On a larger hull, those fixed demands consume a smaller proportion of the available length and beam. The resulting efficiency helps a large purpose-built carrier support more aircraft and maintenance space than a proportionally scaled conversion.
