The Gorshkov class combines a helicopter, sonar and a towed array with its missile armament. Proposed larger derivatives include an arrangement of 64 strategic-length and 64 tactical-length launch cells. A possible naval adaptation of S-400 raises questions about the size and adaptation of the launchers it would require. Other possibilities include 48 cells of each type or 64 strike cells with 32 air-defense cells. These remain competing proposals, with uncertainty about when the enlarged ship will be laid down. Distributing launch cells forward and aft and increasing the 130 mm gun armament are further predictions. At the maximum 128-cell scale, the resulting ship is judged to have entered destroyer territory.

Gorshkov's ASW fit and proposed enlarged variants
Helicopter and towed sonar give the existing frigate an ASW role; far larger missile fits belong to proposals.
