Repeated deliveries strengthened Gibraltar's defenses

Carrier ferry runs regularly left some aircraft at Gibraltar for local defense. Operation Rocket retained four there, and Furious had done the same on an earlier delivery. These repeated additions strengthened a fortress already supported by fighter patrols, an air-defense ring, and visiting heavy warships. Any proposed attack on Gibraltar had to account for that accumulated firepower as well as the awkward position of its airfield.
