A balanced hypothetical redesign of General-Admiral

A viewer's hypothetical redesign shows that General-Admiral needed coordinated changes to machinery, armament, armour, and seakeeping.

Notes

A viewer sketches a successor or reconstruction with twin shafts, greater speed, at least the same range, and a centreline battery of eight-inch or larger guns. The armour belt would have to remain above the waterline, while a less rounded bow would improve behaviour in Atlantic seas. Each proposal addresses a different weakness: propulsion redundancy, speed, firing arcs, protection placement, or seakeeping. Taken together, they show why repairing one visible defect would not have made General-Admiral a balanced cruiser. The proposal remains a retrospective design exercise; Russia did not build it as a programme.
