Gangut modernization and conflicting reference drawings

A new Soviet-fleet reference traces the Gangut class through machinery, protection, fire-control, and gun-elevation changes before two books' conflicting Kronshtadt drawings demonstrate why technical references must be compared.

Notes

The Gangut-class discussion covers rebuilt superstructures, improved subdivision, oil-fired boilers, greater machinery output, faster main-battery firing cycles, and uneven elevation and fire-control upgrades across the class. Marat retained older fire control, while October Revolution supplemented it with imported Vickers equipment, showing that the sisters did not emerge from modernization in a uniform state. Two references then depict different Kronshtadt turret arrangements. The disagreement shows why even detailed technical books need cross-checking when plans changed repeatedly.
