Chapter · 1:27:07-1:32:15

Global deployment without wasting battlecruisers

Numerous fast cruisers can guard against Goeben, support Gallipoli, and reinforce distant stations while a concentrated squadron remains with the Grand Fleet.

Notes

A pair stationed with older battleships could catch and delay Goeben if she attempted to break out, while other ships could provide gunnery and command support at Gallipoli. Additional tactical firepower cannot repair a campaign already compromised at the strategic level. An Australian Tiger Cub might take on the visible national role that would be too costly for HMAS Australia, including evacuation duties that connect the navy directly with the Australian Imperial Force. By late 1915 the class offers enough hulls to cover distant commitments without stripping the battlecruiser force.
