Are future long-range guns more likely to bring back cruisers or battlecruisers?

Cruiser-like ships are more likely to appear before true battlecruisers. Railguns or other long-range weapons could reward larger hulls with power generation, ammunition, sensors, and command capacity. Official names may avoid the cruiser label because of political or historical associations even when the mission resembles one. If such ships continue to grow and acquire status as powerful surface combatants, battlecruiser terminology could eventually return.
