Hermes proportions suggest a 524-foot Furious hangar

The closing calculation scales Hermes's hangar proportions to the much larger Furious hull to test whether Fisher could plausibly have built three 60-aircraft, 30-knot carriers.

Notes

The closing counterfactual tests the earlier sixty-aircraft estimate against Hermes rather than leaving it as a round guess. Hermes was a 600-foot ship with a roughly 400-by-50-foot hangar, so applying the same two-thirds length ratio to Furious produces a hangar about 524 feet 6 inches long. Furious's greater beam could support a width of roughly 60 feet on the same proportional logic. Combined with her 30-knot machinery, that purpose-built arrangement would have been far more capable than the ship's actual incremental conversion. The calculation remains speculative and closes by asking whether three such carriers could have changed Fisher's Baltic operation.
