Why funnel and control-position hits matter

Hits around a battlecruiser's aft control position and funnels could degrade ranging, engine performance, and speed without penetrating a turret or belt.

Notes

The duel draws attention to damage outside the most obvious armoured targets. A hit on the aft control position can interfere with ranging, while repeated funnel hits can impair engine performance and reduce speed. That matters especially in a battlecruiser action because speed helps determine whether a ship can hold range or escape. The visible hit locations connect the simulation's damage display with the functions those structures served aboard a real warship.
