Full-ship shock trials expose structural weak points

Shock-resistant glass can still break when nearby doors and reinforcements change how a load travels through the completed ship.

Notes

A full-ship shock trial pushes equipment close to failure to identify weak points while limiting expensive damage. The way shock travels through the real structure can produce surprises. A door opening may require a strong point that transmits the load toward a pane of glass differently than expected. Glass rated for shock resistance can then break despite its apparent suitability on paper. Testing the installed structure reveals these interactions between individually acceptable components.
