Fubuki had a stated range of 5,000 nautical miles at 14 knots on an initial standard displacement just below 1,800 tons. Rebuilding raised that figure to roughly 2,000 tons and reduced maximum speed from about 38 to 35 knots. Its six Type 3 127 mm guns introduced a five-inch main battery in place of the earlier 120 mm weapons. The combination demonstrates that a substantially longer-range Japanese destroyer was achievable. Its greater endurance brought the design closer to the demands of distant attrition.
