An uncrewed group still needs a substantial support ship

A frigate coordinating uncrewed systems needs space for computing, weapons, people and maintenance as well as the vehicles themselves.

Notes

Future crewed frigates are envisaged as the cores of groups containing helicopters, uncrewed aircraft and uncrewed surface vessels. Supporting that group adds demands for computers and weapons inside the central ship. It also requires people who can sustain and repair the accompanying systems. Crew accommodation and support capacity therefore remain important even where fewer people operate the smaller vehicles. The concern about the CCV concept is that the proposed central platform appears too small for the complete burden being assigned to it.
