Could the French fleet have dispersed to the Far East?

Moving French capital ships to Indochina offered strategic possibilities but depended on Allied fuel and sympathetic French officers.

Question

Could Dunkerque and other French ships have been dispersed to the Far East after France fell?

Short answer

Possibly, but only with British and Dutch logistical support and officers willing to cooperate with the Allies.

Notes

A Far Eastern deployment could have complicated Japanese planning and changed the shape of Force Z. The French ships could not reach Indochina without British assistance or remain operational there without Dutch fuel. That dependence would give the Allies practical leverage over commanders whose political loyalties might be uncertain. Saigon could therefore have offered a setting where cooperation was more plausible than a second Mers-el-Kebir-style confrontation.
