How four Admirals could change the purpose of G3

Completing four Admiral-class ships could leave Britain needing a stronger battle line, changing the requirements for its next generation of capital ships.

Notes

Four Admirals, two Renowns and Tiger would give the Royal Navy seven battlecruisers in this counterfactual. That changes the purpose of the next capital-ship programme because the shortage would be in the battle line. G3 could therefore become a fast battleship design suited to that requirement. N3 construction remains conditional on infrastructure investment, which an ongoing building race might make easier to justify. The panel then considers a larger-gunned battle line and competition over 18-inch guns. Cruiser and destroyer support would still determine how effectively a capital-ship fleet could operate.
