Sumner armament and endurance

The Sumner armament comprises three twin 5-inch/38 mounts, twelve 40 mm Bofors in two quadruple and two twin mounts, at least eleven Oerlikons, and ten 21-inch torpedo tubes. Light antiaircraft outfits could vary. The stated performance is 34 knots, with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 15 knots. Fuel capacity also varied between ships and yards; the stated capacities include 500 and 515 tons, a difference of about three percent. Displacement is given as 2,200 tons standard and 3,500 tons fully loaded. The larger design carried more armament while retaining substantial endurance.
