Five months to prepare Finland's fortresses

Sweden had five months to supply and garrison the forts on which the opening phase of its war plan depended.

Notes

Gustav IV's own concept of operations required the Finnish fortifications to hold. Putting that plan into practice meant providing proper garrisons, food, and enough troops. Even after earlier neglect, the five months of warning offered time to make those preparations. Better execution of the existing plan could have changed the war's outcome.
