The gun deck, wheel, compass, and command positions formed Warrior's fighting core. Her tactical advantage rested on endurance: she was built to remain effective after taking punishment rather than relying on a brief exchange. Armor kept fire away from the crew, but survival also depended on maintaining guns, engines, steering, and communications together. The machinery and weapons offered little without trained people able to keep them working. The careers of officers who served aboard, including a 14-month posting for Jackie Fisher, link this transitional ship to later Royal Navy leadership.
