Chapter · 1:19:19-1:21:18

A different Jutland could favour fast battleships

If Fifth Battle Squadron appears to deliver the decisive damage while British battlecruisers still suffer losses, the intended Admiral class may evolve toward fast battleships.

Notes

The historical battlecruiser differed from the fast-battleship concept already visible in the Queen Elizabeth class. The two types may overlap in speed and firepower, but their designers begin from different operational requirements and protection priorities. In this alternate outcome, Fifth Battle Squadron's success would make fast battleships appear to be the ships that won the action while battlecruisers still absorbed dangerous losses. That institutional lesson could move the Admiral programme toward larger and more balanced successors to the Queen Elizabeths rather than ships designed around battlecruiser assumptions.
