Ceylon factories could shorten North African supply routes

Engine production in Ceylon could support a wider industrial hub and shorten supply routes to the North African campaign.

Notes

A Rolls-Royce factory in Ceylon could encourage the army to establish tank production nearby. With suitable factories and tooling, the region's raw materials could support a wider wartime supply hub. Starting that development in 1937 is proposed as a way to make the infrastructure available for the war. Some supplies for North Africa could then come from Ceylon instead of traveling from Britain around Africa. The benefit depends on establishing production capacity before those supplies are needed.
