Why Moskva might never detect an F-35 attack

Stealth and standoff tactics deny a cruiser the warning cues associated with a conventional low-level attack.

Question

Would Moskva know an F-35 attack was coming?

Short answer

Probably not; the aircraft need not approach close enough to be heard, and successive attacks could accumulate damage.

Notes

An F-35 need not approach closely or fly supersonically enough to give Moskva useful acoustic warning. Stealth and standoff tactics could keep the aircraft undetected until weapons arrived. The opening bombs would damage exposed systems and weaken the ship even if they were not ideal armour penetrators. Later attacks could then exploit the cumulative effects rather than repeat the same engagement against an intact cruiser.
