Extra Type 82 destroyers in the Falklands War

Additional Type 82 destroyers would give the Falklands task force more area air-defence missiles and purpose-built command space near the amphibious operation.

Question

What impact would a couple of additional double-ended Type 82 destroyers have on the Royal Navy?

Short answer

At least one would likely serve in the Falklands as a command ship and extra Sea Dart platform, strengthening coordination and area air defence.

Notes

At least one of the additional Type 82s would probably deploy to the Falklands in this counterfactual. Their flag facilities and staff space could make them useful command ships, with Michael Clapp's headquarters in San Carlos offered as one possible employment. The availability of a proper flagship could also make it easier for a more senior commander to accompany the force. A second Sea Dart launcher replacing Ikara would put more area-defence missiles into the air. Shorter-range weapons such as Sea Wolf would still be a useful complement.
