Evaluate warships within the fleet

The closing lesson judges a warship by the fleet capability it supports and the requirement its design was meant to meet.

Notes

A warship is best understood as a component of its fleet. A navy choosing an aircraft carrier is deciding how much organic aviation and aviation support the fleet requires. Carrier size and design should follow from that capability requirement rather than a desire to build the world's most impressive individual carrier. The same logic applies to battlecruisers and their place in fleet construction. Their armour, guns, and speed have to be judged against the force the navy was trying to build.
