Electronics make an old hull more useful

A refit improves torpedo detection, anti-submarine performance, and defensive capability without replacing the ship.

Notes

The campaign upgrades ships whenever useful equipment becomes available instead of waiting for replacement hulls. The new fit adds weight, but it improves torpedo spotting and effectiveness against submarines. These systems make an older hull more useful even when its basic armament remains familiar. The extra displacement is accepted because better detection and underwater defence let the ship meet threats that its earlier fit handled poorly.
