Edgar's single heavy guns cannot make a reliable salvo

Two single 9.2-inch guns advertised heavy firepower, but the layout could not produce the dependable salvo needed for effective gunnery.

Notes

The Edgar class carried two single 9.2-inch guns alongside ten quick-firing 6-inch guns, lighter weapons, and four torpedo tubes. Two isolated heavy guns could not generate a reliable salvo. Their presence therefore advertised big-gun status more clearly than it delivered an efficient heavy battery. The critique separates nominal calibre from the practical gunnery value of a mounting arrangement.
