Dunedin's captures of Hannover and Enigma equipment

Captured merchant ships provided naval hulls and intelligence as well as denying resources to the enemy.

Notes

Dunedin and the Canadian destroyer Assiniboine captured Hannover near Jamaica, and the merchant ship later became HMS Audacity. Dunedin also captured a German tanker in June 1941 with Enigma equipment still aboard. The tanker subsequently served as the fleet oiler Empire Salvage. These captures supplied useful hulls and intelligence material alongside the more familiar submarine captures.
