Why a duel cannot represent the whole battle line

A realistic comparison would require entire battle lines and cruiser forces, not one Number 13 fighting one South Dakota.

Notes

A fleet comparison would involve roughly twenty to twenty-four American battleships against about a dozen Japanese capital ships, with cruisers added on both sides. Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts cannot assemble that exact mix of multiple historical designs, so the duel remains only a partial proxy. Even a smaller comparison of four Number 13s against six South Dakotas would answer a different question from the one-on-one fight shown. Indiana's destruction is only part of the result: Number 14 also takes heavy damage that would require substantial repair time.
