Britain's planned concentration of 15-inch battleships

Six planned Queen Elizabeths and eight ordered Revenges could have given Britain fourteen 15-inch-gun battleships, a force rival navies had to account for.

Notes

The Revenge class met British requirements for an additional 15-inch-gun battleship, and eight ships were ordered. Together with six planned Queen Elizabeths, that programme could have produced fourteen battleships carrying the new heavy gun. Rival navies therefore had to compare their individual response designs with a large British building programme. The total also shows what Britain's preference for cheaper twin-gun turrets and more hulls could produce.
