Diamantina had previously been floated out when the dry dock developed problems. Permanent concrete supports now hold her securely on the keel but make another refloating much harder. The arrangement trades mobility for a dry setting where maintainers can continue caring for the hull. Preserving a museum ship can therefore change its physical relationship to the water.

Dry-dock support preserves Diamantina but limits future movement
Diamantina's permanent keel supports make another refloating difficult, trading mobility for the stability and dry access needed to preserve an aging frigate.
