Design peacetime access around combat requirements

Combat capability remains primary, but a few deliberate routes, bottlenecks, and adaptable rooms can make a warship far more useful in peace.

Notes

Design starts with the weapons, sensors, protection, and machinery required for war. Circulation and existing spaces can then be arranged so visitors move between a wardroom, hangar, or reception area without approaching sensitive compartments. Type 23 frigates provide a practical example of short, legible routes and natural security bottlenecks. These changes require forethought more than lavish displacement, yet materially improve the ship's diplomatic usefulness.
