Fences, fields of fire, and gaps in a defensive line

A defensive deployment leaves out fences to widen the field of fire, then places infantry where attackers approach a gap.

Notes

Fences narrow the troops' field of fire in this game deployment, so leaving them out of part of the position gives a wider arc. The approaching enemy later aims at a gap near prepared defences. Infantry is placed there to block the route. The placement of obstacles must account for both firing space and openings the attacker can use.
