Uncompleted 1944 Battle-class orders supplied the paperwork and work numbers from which the Daring class began. Builder-archive comparisons show different framing and materially new hull construction. The ships combined heavy guns and torpedoes with an early integrated sensor and command network. They also retained room for staffs and diplomatic work. That combination made the class a bridge to the County-class destroyers and later large, command-capable escorts.
