The Danish line collapses and command passes ashore

Two Danish vessels sank during an attempted withdrawal, while repeated moves between damaged command posts forced Fischer to pass control of the remaining force to another captain.

Notes

As the southern line collapsed, one Danish vessel tried to leave with another in tow, but both sank. A frigate managed to withdraw successfully. Fischer had already shifted from Dannebrog to Holstein and then to Tre Kroner as successive command positions became untenable. He sent a senior captain out to take charge of the remaining force. The sequence shows how ship losses and repeated command transfers compounded the defence's coordination problems near the end of the battle.
