CVA-01's missile fit was not settled

Rather than one fixed launcher plan, the carrier design still had competing Sea Cat, Sea Dart, and Sea Wolf arrangements under discussion.

Question

Was CVA-01 intended to carry the same Sea Cat launcher as the Type 12 family?

Short answer

Possibly, but the fit remained open and later Sea Dart and Sea Wolf combinations may have been more likely.

Notes

One published CVA-01 missile fit should not be treated as final. Sea Cat and Sea Dart both appeared in design discussions, while the construction timeline could have made Sea Wolf increasingly attractive. A Sea Dart launcher with three Sea Wolf systems is judged more plausible here than the often-repeated single Sea Cat arrangement. A long-running capital-ship project can outlive the weapons assumptions used at its start.
