The case for ending cruiser-submarine gun experiments sooner

British and other navies' work on minelayers and larger submarines offered alternatives to prolonged development of the gun-armed cruiser submarine.

Notes

The cruiser-submarine idea was worth trying and testing. Britain and other nations were also putting effort into minelaying submarines, while larger submarines were under consideration and construction. Those alternatives supported the argument for ending development of the large-gun concept sooner. Further effort could instead have gone into a larger torpedo load.
