Could defence constituencies act as a parliamentary bloc?

MPs for bases, defence towns, and military industries could wield considerable leverage if they coordinated across party lines.

Notes

Select committees and speeches can scrutinize policy without compelling a government to fund it. MPs representing service bases, defence towns, and military industries collectively speak for a large political constituency. Acting across party lines could turn those separate local interests into pressure for national defence funding. Such a caucus would be difficult for any government to ignore. It remains doubtful that MPs would set party divisions aside long enough to use that leverage.
