One proposed conversion would use full-length flight decks from the start and investigate deck-edge lifts to release internal space. Furious would receive an island instead of exhaust trunking through the hull, which reduced hangar height and caused other difficulties. Another panellist would keep the ships as fast auxiliaries, particularly troop transports able to reach trouble spots around the empire quickly. That approach would seek surviving Admiral-class hulls as the basis for carrier conversions. Purpose-built carriers are preferred if obtainable, although the panel doubts that option would secure approval in the scenario.
